Revolutionary War veteran John Thomson
married Jane Lindsey. Just as his father, Alexander,
named his plantation Corkerhill after the family farm in
Scotland, so did John name his 130 acres Corker Hill
Farm.
John's house, Corker Hill Mansion in Greene
Township, 10 years in construction (1810-1820) stands
today and is on the National Historic Register of
Historic Places (2003).
John Thomson, the inheriting son and executor
of Alexander’s will was a successful farmer and
prominent in the Village of Scotland. But he must have
fallen on hard times. In 1828 the sheriff of
Chambersburg sold Corker Hill Farm to the Bank of
Chambersburg. The bank then sold the property to
Samuel Garver in 1833.
