proud satisfaction of knowing I have been
instrumental in raising one company to
defend the rights of my countrymen and
maintain the integrity of my country's laws.
I hope you will get my clothes down by the
middle of next week. ...I am needing it very
much indeed.
Mac’s Company was the R. P. McClure Light Guards,
107th Pennsylvania Volunteers.
J. Mac Thomson, Captain of the McClure Light
Guards paid a hasty visit to his friends in this
place on Saturday last, prior to embarking for
the South. His company is full to a man, and
we can safely predict that he will lead it to
glory and victory in defense of his country’s
cause. Brave, discreet and patriotic, he will
make an officer of whom any body of men
might be proud. (Shippenburg Centennial)
