Year by year the family continued to grow.
Alexander came to the realization that the post-war
conditions of Scotland would not allow his sons to
independently prosper. The ongoing unrest, political
oppression and the lack of opportunity resulted in the
immigration of THIS branch of the Thomson clan to America.
When he was 49 years old, married and already the
father of 13, Alexander Thomson moved all except his eldest
son to the English colonies in America. Robert, the oldest
son remained at Corkerhill to mind the homeland farm
should there be a need for the family to return.
