I declare to die in the faith and communion of that 
Church in which my ancestors received Baptism in 
Britain 743 years ago as to what worldly goods I 
possess after payment of my just debts and so give 
herein after to be mentioned I dispose of as follows.  

 

First, Cannon Hill in Surry to be sold through timed 
payments to Col. William Taylor of St. James Place, 
Westminster, aide de camp to his majesty, for his 
loyalty with my uncle

As it has always been my view to establish my 
family in a Sound Interest in the Back Country I 
make no doubt my wife and children will conform.... 
All conditions being completed within two years of 
my demise, she [my wife] shall remove her family in

to the western part of the continent.... 

If Captain James Woods has not completed his 
survey for me by the time the principal and interest 
of the sale of Cannon Hill in Surrey has been 
received, my son Charles or any other person my 
executors shall think appropriate person to purchase 
or take up on some of the waters beyond the
